A few of my home built micro turbines

2 ¼” Sub Micro Turbine

This is my smallest turbine to date, there is only one other turbine out there that is smaller.

My latest engine I am now designing will be smaller about 1.25 inches.

This engine is now well under way and should be done mid 2004.

The engine in the picture is made out of Titanium, Stainless and Aluminum.

The turbine was cast in inconel, the compressor is from a small turbo charger.

This engine like most micro turbines, starts on propane and once hot enough will run on Jet A

Modifications are being made so that it will start on Jet A also.

Here's another pic to show the size.

Hot Spec take off video

Length: 5”

Diameter: 2 1/4”

Weight: 6.5 oz

Thrust: 4 Pounds

RPM: 60k to 220k

 JPX Clone

This was my first home built turbine ( the one in the back ground) a copy of the French JPX turbine I built 8 years ago.

There is a article of this engine and a scratch built model of the Canadian Snowbird in a issue of RC Modeler. April 98 issue.

Thrust: 13 pounds

Weight: 3 pounds

I have recently converted it to run on Jet a instead of propane, runs great.

The other motor in the picture is the one above before anodizing.

A typical scene in the shop, only much cleaner than usual.

These engines are all prototypes and are not for sale. I am asked from time to time if I have drawings, I do, but I don't want to part with them.
